Hamfests

Marlborough, MA Northeasat HamXposition – August 22-25, 2024. Mike VA3MW will be speaking at 2PM Saturday “Not your Dad’s Old Radio” and again on Sunday “Getting Started in Remote HF Operations”
CY9C – St. Paul
The St Paul Island CY9C DXpedition is scheduled for August 26 – September 5, 2024. The team will use two helicopters and a boat to transport the operators and all of the gear to the Northeast Island of St Paul. There are ten experienced DXpeditioners and contesters on the 2024 team.
FlexRadio is a major sponsor of the DXpedition and provides all the radios and amplifiers.
All bands from 160-6 meters are planned. Antennas will include Yagis on 6-20 meters, with elevated sloping dipoles and verticals on the low bands. CW will be emphasized but with a good mix of SSB, FT8 and RTTY. The team will also be on SAT and EME.
This DXpedition will take place from the small, rocky and windswept Northeast Island.
There are no trees on this island. DXpeditions to the Northeast Island are limited to a narrow window in the summer.
The team is grateful to the Canadian Department of Fisheries and Oceans for granting our team permission for this DXpedition.
Flex-8000 Series
Our team has been working with incredible dedication and precision to bring this innovative product to you. I am pleased to report that our contract board manufacturer and internal assembly team is underway ramping up to support our substantial backlog.
Furthermore, our product team has been hard at work testing and qualifying the radios for shipment. While this process is going very well, we’ve decided to extend our field testing by two to three weeks in order to ensure the best possible quality and experience for you.
As a result, shipping of the FLEX-8000 series radios will commence sometime in the first few weeks of September. While we sincerely apologize for the delay, we are confident that our commitment to quality will be the best outcome for you, our valued customers.
Here are just some of the new features that the new FLEX-8000 Series architecture will support, some at first ship like the GNSS and others in subsequent releases:
- Adaptive Pre-Distortion (APD): Offers the cleanest signal on an amateur radio platform. Software to follow after the release of the radios.
- Digital Wideband – Ability to transmit and receive over 40 kHz of bandwidth (limited to 3khz wide transmit signals)
- Unified Panadapter. Visibility of all HF/6m amateur bands in a single, unified panadapter. Imagine being able to watch all the Amateur HF radio spectrum in one view for band activity!
- Integrated GNSS Satellite Reception: Built-in Global Navigation Satellite System capability for amazing frequency stability (+/- 0.5hz at 50Mhz or better)
- Integrated NTP Server: A future built-in NTP time server as standard.
More features are planned for the future thanks to the improved CPU and FPGA performance.

It’s that time of year when FlexRadio reaches out to Ham Radio Clubs to offer our online presentations. We have three unique and engaging talks that we are excited to deliver to your club members.
Each presentation is delivered by Mike VA3MW.

FlexRadio – Not Your Dad’s HF Radio Our most popular presentation, this talk explores the differences between traditional HF radio using Super Heterodyne Receivers and today’s Software Defined Radios.
