FlexRadio Systems is led by a dynamic, experienced and highly-motivated team of engineering and business professionals.  Leading, directing and managing the firm’s growth are the following individuals:

Gerald Youngblood (K5SDR)President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Gerald Youngblood founded FlexRadio Systems in April 2003 to develop and market the industry’s first Software Defined Radio (SDR) products to the amateur radio market. As President and CEO Gerald is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the company. Prior to FlexRadio Systems, he founded and ran five technology companies spanning hardware, software and electronic manufacturing, one of which he took public in 1996. He has been a ham since 1967 as WA5RXV, KE5OH, AC5OG, and now holds an Extra Class License as K5SDR. Gerald received a BSEE degree from Mississippi State University. He is a member of the ARRL Software Defined Radio Working Group and is a recipient of the ARRL 2002 Doug DeMaw, W1FB, Technical Excellence Award and the Central States VHF Society 2004 John T. Chambers Award.
Matt Youngblood (KD5FGE)Chief Financial Officer (CFO) & Chief Operating Officer (COO)
Matt Youngblood joined FlexRadio in January 2008. Since joining FlexRadio Matt has worked to solidify the company’s financial position including strengthening the balance sheet, implementing strategies to improve working capital and improve cash flow. He also manages the company’s sales, manufacturing, supply chain and logistics activities. Matt graduated from Texas A&M University with a degree in business management and holds and Executive MBA from Baylor University.
Steve Hicks (N5AC)Vice President of Engineering
Steve Hicks joined FlexRadio Systems in 2008. As Vice President of Engineering, Steve is responsible for all aspects of the company’s product development and product strategy. Steve brings over 22 years of technology experience having held posts at a number of companies including Rockwell/Collins, Digital Equipment Corporation, and Texas Instruments as well as his own software and consulting businesses. Steve has been a licensed operator since 1977 and currently holds an Extra Class license. He is a life member of the ARRL, Central States Microwave Society and the Texas VHF-FM Society. Steve has also previously held the post of President of the North Texas Microwave Society. In addition, Steve was awarded the Mini Circuits Annual Award for Design Achievement in 2008. Steve received his BSEE from Texas A&M University and an Executive MBA from Southern Methodist University.
Eric Wachsmann (KE5DTO)Vice President, Software Development
Eric joined FlexRadio in January of 2004 as Director of Software Engineering and has since been promoted to the role of Vice President. In this role, he is responsible for the development of PowerSDR™ software, FlexRadio Systems’ industry leading software defined radio operating system, and other SDR software engineering projects. Eric previously worked for Microchip Computers in technical and sales management roles. He holds a BSEE in computer engineering from the University of Texas.
